He has become one like us in all things but sin and ha s some moments of doubt: this is not a sin. He wanted to carry on himself all our weaknesses so to conquer them with his love. But while carrying them they pull him down as low as possible. Even in this situation Jesus shows the strength of his love. Even in this deep moment he will stand in faith and will then add “In your hands I commend my spirit”. Lui si è fatto uno come noi in tutto e si è voluto caricare tutte le nostre debolezze per vincerle con il suo amore e queste debolezze lo portano il più in basso possibile. Christ is thirsty: that which is a normal physical need becomes the sign of a deep burning spiritual desire. Uno dei due peccatori si converte e lo difende riconoscendo, allo stesso tempo, le sue colpe: “Noi ce lo meritiamo per quello che abbiamo fatto ma lui è condannato ingiustamente”. Ci ricordiamo cosa aveva patito nelle ore precedenti: Il tradimento del discepolo/amico Giuda, l'arresto, le accuse ingiuste, le grida della folla “Crocifiggilo”, la flagellazione, la coronazione di spine e le beffe, la via crucis, i chiodi, e ora le beffe continuano ed Egli risponde: “Padre perdona a loro perché non sanno quello che fanno”. Giovanni 8:1-8 L'adultera o meglio l'eterna lotta tra l'ipocrisia e la misericordia. Bello l'episodio di oggi, bello perché è l'esempio migliore di quello che puó fare la misericordia. Normalmente questo brano è intitolato l'episodio dell'adultera, io invece lo chiamerei lo scontro tra la misericordia e l'ipocrisia. L'adulterio era considerato uno dei peccati più gravi perché rompeva la famiglia, la donna veniva cacciata dal marito, ma anche gettava disonore sulla famiglia di origine che quindi si rifiutava di riaccoglierla in casa ed allora essa finiva in mezzo alla strada a mendicare o a prostituirsi. Naturalmente la colpa era tutta della donna, l'uomo era solo vittima della sua magia di adescatrice, mentalità purtroppo ancora molto viva in tante parti del mondo.
